10th August

With nothing to report today, let us consider the written words of President Woodrow Wilson after signing the Federal Reserve into existence in 1913:

“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilised world … no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.”

Wilson’s words have turned out to be a global prophecy. And in this age of plutocracy, “democracy” is but a myth. Isn’t it about time we wake up to the fact that our vote can mean little or nothing within such a fundamentally flawed and dangerous system?

You can’t wallpaper over the cracks of a rotten foundation. You can only rebuild.

    Happy birthday, Albany.

  2. Many happy returns to your daughter. Enjoy her day – no need to feel concerned about uploading less on ‘non-days’. An occasional Address Dorion is very welcome. At least something significant and worth reporting occurred on August 10th.
